Vaulters

Check out the repaired runway We have been doing some work on the well worn areas of the pole vault runway. It is starting to look much better!

Lots of personal best were set as we had a tremendous outdoor season. We are still celebrating Jon Garrett’s GWOC overall championship with his 14-0 vault, now #2 all time in Miamisburg history. Zak Kruer has cleared 13 feet and gives Miamisburg the only two vaulters over 13 feet in the area. They have cleaned up at relay meets all over the place and set a school relay record. John Fontaine & Zach Marcott were amazing at the Wayne Warrior Relay meet. They both had a tremendous vauting day and improved by a foot each!!! How great to have our JV vaulters beat the varsity vaulters of 15 other teams! Kennedy Peters had a big pr of 8-0 to go to a tie for #4 on the all time Miamisburg list. Elizabeth Steingass improved dramatically and ended up #7 on the all time list.

Wow, this pole vault video has really changed the way I am thinking. It is the clip of a 67 year old woman vaulting 10-6. She is 11 years older than me and vaulting 6 inches higher. It all makes me realize that I’m not training hard enough. What do you think about this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbcub-nR7-U

!!!JAN JOHNSON VAULT CAMP HITS THE TOWN!!!

Jan Johnson says “Let me tell you about my daughter Chelsea......”

What a great vault camp led by Olympian Jan Johnson! There were terrific vaulters there, lots of great information shared and amazing coaching. Jon Garrett and Rian Wendling were there for the entire camp. Coach Mike Hout stopped by for several visits and on Tuesday he picked up Zak Kruer so he could spend a day soaking up the camp. Look out Centerville relays!

Ask Rian and Jon how many times Jan Johnson mentioned his daughter Chelsea?

You can read more about Jan Johnson, his camps and his equipment at: www.skyjumpers.com/

Remember: don’t limit your challenges...
            challenge your limits!

Here’s a poem for the WC vaulters......

It was a time we will all remember
Through some days cold like December
And others with heat like July
But through it all the vaulters did fly

There were pits that made wet our back
There were chalk drawings on an old track
There were times being scared by chipmunks
There were times watching some blow chunks

We had some meets that made our hearts torn
But who can forget the meet record at Fairborn
And the thrill of getting a new personal record
What’s that? A tattoo of a bird!

Water in the box with bugs that squirm
Hey look there. I see a worm!
Getting psyched for meets with adrenaline
Now forever go with God......and a gentle tailwind!
