It was another great year for the girls and the boys cross- country team. There were lots of good team results, many personal records and both teams qualified for the regionals. You can read more on this website that has a special page for every runner and results from every meet.... Season highlights include second place trophies for the boys at the Miamisburg Invitational and the Franklin Invitational. The girls team also was second at Miamisburg and tied for first at the Franklin Invite. Big congrats to Michael Melko was named GWOC South runner of the year! You can read more about last year’s team at: Megan Wright represented Ohio in the Mideast Championship. Only the top 12 seniors in the state were invited to participate. Here are the full results that show Megan ran as the 5th best Ohio runner in the meet: Megan also had an All-State performance in Columbus. She finished 15th in the heavy winds surrounding Scioto Downs. Another treat at the state was opening the program and seeing a picture of Greg Roeth (with his Miamisburg jersey in clear view) as part of an advertisement for photos from the State Meet! Complete state meet results are here: Megan’s second place finish at the Regionals was another highlight of the season along with both the boys and the girls team qualifying for Regionals. In between, she was recognized as Penn Station Athlete of the Week. The Dayton Daily News gave some nice press to Megan and printed the following after the Regionals: “I definitely ran with my guts. On one hand I felt really good because I ran my hardest. On the other hand I was dead with the wind and the mud” said Wright, who hopes for better conditions next week when she gets one more chance to lower her school record of 18:30. The rest of the team ran well but the competition was very stiff at Troy. The girls team finished 14th and the boys were 15th. Congratulations on a great season to Megan Wright, Brittany Sumner, Brittany Fourman, Stephanie Mee, Ami Patel, Laurie Wilson and Victoria Ayers. For the boys: good work Michael Melko, Quentin Mullen, Kyle Kemp, Jonathan Steingass, Donnie Whyte, Michael Jackowski and Matt Peppo.
